Asparagus (White)

£20.20

White asparagus has a more delicate, complex and sweeter flavour than green ones; Ranked number 10th on the list of the ‘14 healthiest vegetables on earth’, they are grown in a dark environment, either underground or covered, which prevent chlorophyll production while green cultivars have been exposed to sunlight.

Due to its particular cultivation needs and climate requirements, white asparagus is often not cultivated in UK. The growth of white asparagus has a long history in places like Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands, where the soil and climate are ideal.

White asparagus’ has a short season going from late April to early June.
