Comice also called the Doyenne of Pear is a winter fruit considered one of the best variety of pear in the world due to its sweet, juicy, creamy white flesh and outstanding flavour. As the Comice ripens, the green colour on the skin may take some yellow tones with a faint red or pink flush. They are round, chubby, and slightly squat in form. In comparison to other pear kinds, comice pears are frequently larger in size.
Comice pear contain higher level of pectin than apples and the benefits of pectin are numerous. Considered by many to be hypo-allergenic, Pectin is a water soluble fibre found effective in helping to lower cholesterol.
