Carrots Chantenay (Orange, Purple or Mixed)

from £7.40

Chantenay Carrots compared to other carrot cultivars, are shorter and fatter. With a broad shoulder and a tapered tip, they have a characteristic conical shape and a well-know very sweet flavour. The flesh is dense, crisp, crunchy and tasty, while the outer skin is silky. They differ from other varieties of carrot in that they have a rich, earthy flavour.

Chantenay carrots are excellent for roasting, grilling, and glazing because of their sweet flavour and firm texture. They work nicely in stews and soups as they keep their shape when cooking. Chantenay carrots are a nutrient-dense vegetable that are high in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, especially beta-carotene, which gives them their vivid orange colour and supports the health of the skin and eyes.

Usually in season from May to November.
