Gooseberries are small (weighting between 3- 6 grams each) yet very nutritious fruits, closely related to black, red and white currants. The European and American varieties are the most common types. Their flavour ranges from tart to sweet while the colour of the fruit can be green, yellow-white, pink, red or dark purple.

Gooseberries are a great source of Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant vital to our nervous system, immune system and skin. Meanwhile its hight content of Vitamin B5 is necessary for creating fatty acids, and vitamin B6 ( which many enzymes and cells in our body need to function) helps convert food into energy.

In season from May to September, peak from late June through to early August.
