Pears williams

from £0.70

The Williams' bon chrétien pear, commonly called the Williams pear or the Bartlett pear have a buttery, juicy texture with a sweet, floral flavour. The fruit has a bell shape, and its green skin turns yellow upon later ripening, although red-skinned derivative varieties exist. Often eaten raw, but holds shape well when baked.

Pears, notably the Williams variety, are a good source of dietary fibre, which is one of their special nutrient compositions. They offer both soluble and insoluble fibre, which helps assist healthy digestion, encourage regular bowel motions and increase satiety. Vitamin C, an antioxidant that aids collagen formation and immune system function, is also abundant in pears. They also include trace levels of potassium, copper, and vitamin K, among other vitamins and minerals.

Williams pear has a longer neck and a more elongated shape than Comice pears, which are rounder in shape.

Williams pear has yellow-green skin that can blush red, whereas Comice pear has greenish-yellow skin with a faint blush.

Williams pears have a somewhat tougher texture and a well-balanced, sweet-tart flavour, whilst Comice pears have a creamy, buttery texture and a sweet, juicy flavour.
